POINT BREAK

Pointers to Point Break-

1. Point Break’s spiritual connect with India!Point Break inspired by Hinduism?

James Cameron’s highly-acclaimed Hollywood film Avatar had drawn much from Hinduism. And

now Ericson Core’s upcoming action-adventure Point Break seems to be doing the same. And

though the thriller is a crime caper, the makers reveal that at the heart of the film is the basic

premise of a group of extreme sports athletes chasing the most daring quests and wanting to

be one with nature.

Interestingly, two of film’s lead characters even have Hindu names. An insider reveals, “While

the on screen name of the anti-hero ‘Bodhi’ (played by Edgar Ramirez) has been retained from

the original 1991 film of the same name of which Point Break is a remake, the new version has

introduced another character named Samsara (Teresa Palmer).” Both these names have

Sanskrit origins and with the quest for a spiritual connect with nature resonating through the

film, looks like Hollywood’s love affair with all things Indian just got stronger!

The film that also stars Luke Bracey is replete with the most daring stunts ever seen in a motion

picture.  Releasing on 1st January, 2016, Point Break boasts of the most jaw-dropping feats that

have never been seen before on the big screen and it has been billed as the biggest action-

adventure film till date.

2. Mumbai’s special cameo in Point Break!

The slick action-adventure thriller features a daredevil heist being pulled off in the

city

One of the most-awaited Hollywood films, Point Break has a surprise in store for the

Indian audiences, as a high-octane action sequence features Mumbai rather

prominently. According to a production source, the upcoming film features a daredevil

heist being pulled off in the city. The source reveals that the sequence featuring a

prominent high-rise situated in South Mumbai involves a team of thrill-seeking elite

athletes pull off a daylight robbery in a diamond-sorting facility in Mumbai.

Talking about the sequence, the insider shares, “In a never-seen-before death-defying

action sequence, three motorcyclists in helmets bearing images of US presidents rob a

diamond-sorting facility in the sky-rise of Mumbai and escape by bursting from its 100-

storey windows, dropping gems down to the slums of Mumbai as they parachute

away.” Point Break revolves around a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey) who

infiltrates a team of thrill-seeking elite athletes – led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar

Ramirez). This extraordinary team of extreme-sports athletes is suspected of

masterminding and carrying out a spate of outrageous, unprecedented and

sophisticated corporate heists in the most unusual ways.   The film is a remake of the

1991 cult hit Point Break starring Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves and this new

rebooted version has been directed by Ericson Core (DOP on films including Fast and

Furious and director of Invincible). The film has been shot in over four continents and 11

countries and is replete with the most daring athleticism, stunts and action sequences

ever seen in a motion picture. What’s more, these action adventure feats are performed

by elite athletes representing the world’s best in class in the world of extreme

adventure sports. After Slumdog Millionaire and Mission Impossible 4, Point Break is

putting Mumbai on Hollywood map again and with the adrenaline-pumping action

sequences in store.

3. International sports-stars and musicians to make cameo in Point Break!

Bollywood film Om Shanti Om had almost all the B-Town A-listers make cameo in a party

scene. And now a Hollywood film has managed to pull a similar coup. The soon-to-release Point

Break – which is a remake of the Keanu Reeves-Patrick Swayze starrer cult action thriller – has

the A-listers of the sports world and the music industry populate two celebratory party

sequences. An insider reveals that the film being directed by Ericson Core has two party scenes

– one aboard a luxury yacht and the other at an Alpine chalet. The sequence involves the film’s

actors-athletes kickback with friends, sponsors and local VIPs after a day of pushing themselves

to the limit. “There are many familiar faces that will be seen in these two parties,” says the

insider, “including Brett Rosenberg, Kenny Glasgow apart from many other elite names in the

world of extreme sports.” Point Break revolves around a young FBI agent Johnny Utah (played

by Luke Bracey) who infiltrates a criminal ring run by Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez) wherein athletes

are suspected of carrying out a spate of crimes in extremely unusual and bizarre ways.

The action-adventure thriller Point Break, packed with the most high-octane stunts ever seen

on the big screen has been garnering accolades worldwide for capturing the extreme death-

defying stunts ever performed in a feature film. And now in a rare gesture, a special pre-release

stuntmen and action teams on Friday, December 11, 2015. Making the screening all the more

special for them will be action hero Sunny Deol, who is also slated to attend the screening, to
