Pen Kalvi Marathon Event –

There’s a new buzz in town, everyone around is talking about a running event, opportunity to click selfies with actor Vishal and Arya, Zumba and whatnot. MOP Vaishnav College for Women, celebrating its silver jubilee, is organising a Miniathon—5km/10km run named PennKalviRun, to mark the special occasion. The run aims to promote girl child education and will be flagged off from Island Ground amidst great fanfare.

Posters have been put up across the city, Big Fm RJ’s are talking about it and a teaser has also been released on social media, actively promoting the event in every way possible, putting all efforts to support the cause. The event will kick-start with Zumba session headed by Planet 10 where participants will get a chance to shake a leg with popular actors. Cash prizes of—Rs.15,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.5000 are to be won.

“Providing equal opportunity has always been one of the major goals of MOP Vaishnav College for Women, and through this we aim to achieve just that” explains Susan Sridhar, HoD, media management department. With the internal campaign headed by the students of Media Management where event-related T-shirts that are being distributed in campus, students are running a campaign on community radio station (CRS) 107.8., to create hype, MOP students are enthusiastically working to achieve a grand success and leave a mark.
Popular movie actors other VIPs are supporting the cause and over 3000 participants are expected to turn up run for the girl child. The 5km/10km run from Island Ground to Shivaji Statue and back, is supported by Marina Runners, established name in big marathons such as DHRM, TWCM etc. While the run will bring attention to what is the need of the hour, the part of proceeds from the event will be used for the benefit of Agaram and Devi Foundations that work for the underprivileged children and their education.
